Facebook is the second most visited site in the world after Google.

Mark’s Personal Life:

Zuckerberg was born in White Plains, New York to Karen and Edward. His parents are Jewish but he considers himself as an atheist.

Zuckerberg always loved programming and coding from his early age. He started programming when he was in middle school. At that time, he enjoyed developing computer programs and most of them were related to communication tools and games. He studied at Ardsley High School where he excelled in the classics, before transferring in his junior year to Philips Exeter Academy where he immersed himself in Latin.

As he was fond of programming, he also designed a computer application system to help the workers in his father’s office communicate. He built a version of the game RISK, and under the company Intelligent Media Group, he built a music player named Synapse Media Player that used artificial intelligence to learn user’s listening habits, which was posted to Slashdot. Microsoft and AOL tried to purchase Synapse and recruit Zuckerberg, but he decided to attend Harvard College instead.

Foundation of FACEBOOK:

The idea for Facebook came from his days at Philips Exeter Academy which had a tradition of publishing annual student directory with photos of students, faculty and staff known as “Facebook”. Zuckerberg launched Facebook from his Harvard dormitory room on February 4, 2004. Once at college, Zuckerberg’s Facebook started as a ‘Harvard thing’ until he decided to spread it to other schools and colleges with the help of his classmate Dustin Moskovitz. They first spread it to Stanford, Dartmouth, Columbia, New York University, Cornell, Brown and Yale.

Zuckerberg moved to Palo Alto, California, with his friends. They leased a house that served as their office during the summer of 2004. According to Zuckerberg, the group planned to return to Harvard in the fall but eventually decided to remain in California.
